Mumbai Train Accident and Railway Safety Measures

A tragic train accident near Thane led to multiple fatalities, prompting the Railway Ministry to implement safety measures like automatic door closures to prevent overcrowding accidents in the future.

Why This Matters

Transportation safety and infrastructure improvements are of high public interest due to their direct impact on daily commutes and overall safety, making them significant topics for discussion and concern.

Public Sentiment Summary

The tragic train accident in Mumbai has stirred significant public outrage and frustration, with many criticizing government inaction and the inefficiencies in addressing railway and city infrastructure issues. The overwhelming sentiment suggests a lack of trust in proposed safety measures and concern over the recurring nature of such accidents, highlighting problems with overcrowding, insufficient infrastructure, and personal safety. There is a strong call for immediate and proactive operational and structural changes rather than reactive measures, alongside greater accountability from both local and national government bodies. Additionally, issues around socio-economic imbalance and migration to Mumbai are seen as contributing factors to the strain on the city's resources.

मुंबई ची क्षमता संपली आहे परंतु बाहेरून हजारो लोक मुंबईत येत आहेत. म्हूणन कितीही लोकल वाढविल्या तरी फायदा होणार नाही.

Train door should not open until the train comes to complete halt.

Collusion due to overpopulation and lack of proper infrastructure.

it always takes someone's death to make the right changes ,the same happened when the hoarding collapsed and 17 people died ,only after that the BMC decided to check every large billboard

This happens every time there are deaths due to overcrowding in non AC locals. This is a never ending cycle.

The Govt should provide more train facilities for the people..The local train in Mumbai is so dangerous..all will get in...n some will be crushed..in that rush...its worst situation..Govt should look into it

all we need is to procure around 50 more local trains. make them park at night at each ends like CSMT and Thane/Vasai.

Why there has to be a tragedy before any action is taken. The elphinston bridge was built after people does in a stampede.

Now question maharashtra govt can't they provide more train service for peoples

Stone, cylinder, iron beam, etc on tracks is big major problem

Bro nowdays most of the train accident happens due to derailing etc,you have a great mind focus on those fields

Mate the train tracks already have it, to count the number of Bogie. You have to understand the major accident happening in India due to De-rail. So if you can work on it. Then combining this would be boom.

It's so hard to watch this, being a man i feel ashamed. I hope he got beaten up.

Sorry you had to go through this. But, How did you manage to take video of this at such a great angle without him knowing???

Why didn't you take a video of his face and expose the bastard???? Kudos to you for standing up for yourself

So sorry OP. Since you have video evidence maybe try contacting railway police or just general police and file a case.

I don't understand why there are suddenly so many rail accidents happening one after another...?

We have one of the largest railway networks, yet one of the easiest to sabotage.

Unpopular Opinion: I will take anything said by Railways itself with a pinch of salt. Railmin said that Andhra Pradesh accident happened because of drivers watching cricket match while Crs report blames it on operating department + drivers.

It's high time we look at fencing tracks that run through residential and farm areas, and also implement some sort of monitoring across the railway network.
